Arts Tool Sales was started in March of 1981 as a mobile Herbrand Automotive Tool franchise by Aart van Krimpen after having spent some 13 years in the off road heavy equipment industry. After a year on the road of selling automotive hand and air power tools, it was decided to sell and service tools at a fixed location. A location was found not far from the family home on 10 Nihan Dr. in the city St. Catharines, Ontario.

Since Alice had already been doing the books for the Herbrand franchise, it was only natural for her to join Art in the business to maintain the books for the company. A separate service division was created called A&A Power Tool Repair since there was an increased demand for a service department. A&A Power Tool Repair offered repairs and service to all major brands of tools and machinery until it was sold in May of 2002. It is still operating right next door, but is under new ownership.

In July 2002, we had the opportunity to open a second store in the city of Welland, Ontario - strategically located to serve the surrounding communities. Both stores have had the opportunity to expand over the past 3 years, in both staff and size. We have recently added a larger showroom and service department in the Welland store and have moved the warehousing for the St. Catharines store to our Welland location to serve our clients better.
